Need1Hour?

In need of a low-commitment digital marketing mercenary?

You're someone who doesn't need a dedicated (or part-time) strategist, but does need some added brainpower on occasion. I'm someone who is working on a startup with a bit of time to lend out, who needs to earn some cash to keep bootstrapping my young business.

What can I help you with?

Promotion and efficiency. I want to help more people know what you're applying your talents to, and I want to help you apply those talents more efficiently using the web.

I spent 7 years in marketing (on the agency side) across several disciplines spanning public relations, media buying/planning, and digital strategy helping major brands like Mercedes-Benz, Allstate, McDonald's and Unilever. Additionally for the last 6 months, I've had a crash course on the startup side which adds a unique lens to my diverse background. Feel free to check out my LinkedIn, but there are a variety of segments I believe you can tap my brain for.

Biggest value I can add?

Connecting intersections. Something I was always lauded for in the agency world was being able to quickly listen to challenges my colleagues were having and then provide them with pragmatic solutions (or at least get them on the right track to finding one). I'm exposed to an enormous level of new digital tools and tactics and I have consistently helped offer people creative ideas that leave them walking away with a clearer sense of direction. If nothing else, I believe that in an hour I can provide that value to you.

F.A.Q.

How do I buy an hour with you?

At the top right, pick a month you'd like to schedule a consultation with me, and then purchase a specific day that's available. I won't be booking anything beyond 2 months from the present day.

What time can I schedule time with you?

You can pick any hour block (for example 9-10am) between 8am and 8pm CST. I'm in Chicago in case you were wondering.

Will you do in-person meetings in Chicago?

Yep. But only within 10 miles of the loop.

Why do this?

I'm spending 75+ hours a week on my startup, but I still have bills to pay. I want to supplement the bootstrapping income that my lovely fiance and I are currently living on, so I figured I would leverage my knowledge-base to help people with on-demand needs.

Refunds?

Only if for some reason I miss our meeting. I'm an extremely punctual person though, so it's unlikely. In terms of quality of the hour, I'm a fast talker and am quite creative. I believe the majority of you will get your money's worth. If you're unsatisfied, well hey...you only spent a $100.

I'm not sure if you can help with my specific problem, can I vet it with you before purchasing your time?

Sure! Send me a brief overview (5 sentences or less, don't send me your entire brief) via the contact page. If it's something I don't think I can help you with, I'll be honest and help you avoid wasting your money and time with me.

Besides your professional background what makes you worth hiring for an hour?

I rallied the entire internet to help me propose to my girlfriend. I ran a 1000 day-in-a-row crowdsourced diary project. I blog frequently for GOOD magazine, Technori, and WWTID. I'm a prolific user of social media. I'm not just a talker, I actually practice what I preach.

$100? Seems high.

I've done quite a bit of freelance work. This is touch more than I would charge per hour, but it's also an on-demand service, hence the premium. And hey, hourly rates for agency folks and consultants at the director level are significantly higher.

NOTE: If you are a non-profit, I will give you a 50% discount. Please email me before securing a day.

Will our discussions remain confidential?

That's up to you. You can certainly consider me to be like a psychiatrist of marketing. No one will know about our discussions if you don't want them to. I'm also happy to sign an NDA as long as it doesn't have implications for my startup.

Can I buy more than 1 hour?

If you're a first time "customer" lets stick with one hour and see where things go. I'm not in the right place to be in a "committed relationship" right now.

This is a Technori Labs Production.
Special thanks to Rick Liebling. He knows why.
